Art has always been an integral part of Leah’s life. Ranging from a multitude of artistic talents she finds drawing, painting and printmaking the best means of expression for her work. Inspired by a rich and tragic family history, her work represents a deep-rooted emotional connection to life, family and bridging the gap between the past and present.
Leah is featured in the February 2014 issue:
Source of inspiration: Everything inspires me; everything I see, feel, hate, love... I'm driven to create daily. Sometimes I create good art, sometimes I create crap art, but I create every day.
Three adjectives that describe your art: Colorful, Dynamic, and Heartfelt.
Favorite creative tool: My Vandercook Letterpress.
Favorite snack: Pita chips and hummus.
Favorite toy (now or as a kid): Card games.
If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be and why? Captain Jack Sparrow, because it seems like it would be a good time stealing other people's ships and "booty". Also he cheats death a few times which would be cool.
What's the strangest thing you've ever seen? A guy strip down naked and pee through a cone on a stuffed animal at an open mic night in San Francisco.
Favorite mythical creature: Falkor from "Neverending Story."
Upcoming projects: Opening art show "Just Ahead of Me" on Saturday, February 22nd from 6pm-10pm. At Viracocha, 998 Valencia St., San Francisco 94110
